    Design Build
We prefer to be involved in projects where our input as contractors provides benefit to the outcome of each project, regardless of whether we are members of a design-build team, or are low bidders on a project already designed. We aspire to form partnerships with owners where trust is the basis of the relationship. In our preferred approach to project delivery, the owner, architect, consulting engineers, general contractor, subcontractors and suppliers form a tightly-knit team in which all parties share a common goal: the faithful execution of the design, fulfilling the owner's program requirements, within the owner's budget.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
LEED-certification for new buildings or existing buildings is the wave of the future and the direction we need to go in order to preserve the environment. The days of lead-based paints, appliances that waste power and water, and asbestos are over. Project Coordinators, architects, electricians, woodworkers and LEED general contractors . . . there are many different parties involved in construction projects from the planning phase to implementation. S R Bales Construction was the General Contractor for the Anchorage Mt. View Library Branch that is a Certified LEED for new Construction GOLD.

The senior center was post and beam construction with structural insulated wall and roof panels for the exterior envelope.  This building is a large, open room with vaulted ceilings and windows looking out on Marie Lake, doors out to a deck facing the lake, access to the brand-new commercial kitchen, and a substantial stone fireplace rising to the height of the roof. At the front entrance are an ample-sized conference room and office space, bathrooms and reception area.

“This is a great facility, absolutely beautiful setting and a beautiful building, and it’s going to serve the community for a long time. So thanks to everyone who had a part in helping get this constructed,”  Peninsula Borough Mayor Mike Navarre said.

Mt. View Library

The remodeled building is certified as LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council, one of the highest levels attainable for green building design. As one of the first LEED Gold buildings in Alaska, the Library is a leader in sustainability and building efficiency.
